![]() ![]() Thank you in advance for any insight and help. Does this problem have something to do with SSD? Need firmware updating? I searched in the internet whole afternoon with no luck. Does anybody know how to get rid of this Prohibitory Symbol? Though I don't need to restart macbook very often, it is still annoying. The only way for me to get into the system is by shutting down and booting the machine again. But after I restarted the system it booted to another Prohibitory Symbol. The installation stopped twice, showing Prohibitory Symbol, but after shuting down and restarting, the installation of High Sierra was finished and booted into High Sierra. In El Capitan I found MacOS High Sierra in Apple store and upgraded the system into High Sierra. Open the 'macOS High Sierra Patcher' tool, and browse for your copy of the macOS High Sierra Installer App. I could only push and hold the power button to force the macbook to shut down, then pushed the power button again to start, after that, it could boot normally into El Capitan. Insert your desired USB drive, open Disk Utility, and format it as OS X Extended (Journaled). The installation took about 2 hours and it was ok, but as soon as I retarted the macbook, it was showing a Prohibitory Symbol. I made a bootable installation USB from it according to this page. Then I downloaded a install Mac OS El Capitan app.zip file from. Encourage people into the Affinity family, don't just lock them out by telling them they need to upgrade - it's bad PR.The HDD from my daughter's Macbook white mid 2010 is very old and running terribly slow, so I bought a Samsung 870 EVO 500GB SSD to replace it. With the small disclaimer that "unfortunately we cannot offer support for this product", let people download the old versions and have a play with it. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't make them available to people who cannot afford the latest & greatest Mac environment. I accept that it is impractical for developers to continue to 'support' legacy versions of their software. The upgrade path for both hardware and software can be beyond the financial means of many people. Browsers work, email works, Word works, all the basics many people need work just fine. There are lots of good reasons people operate on older Macs and operating systems, with no real need to upgrade. There have been major underlying changes to macOS and it isn't practical for developers to continue supporting very old computers. You're going to find less and less software available for your Mac given it's almost 13 years old. If you purchased v2 from the Mac App Store then you would contact Apple, or if you purchased it directly from Serif you'd need to email Serif, I believe going to find less and less software available for your Mac given it's almost 13 years old. You'll need to move to a different computer or request a refund. While Affinity v1 would have worked on your computer it is no longer available for sale. Hi Amy, Affinity v2 requires macOS 10.15 Catalina or later so it won't work on 10.13 High Sierra. I'm stuck! Is there a slightly older Affinity Version I can download so I can use this software on my older Mac? ![]() However, upon trying to open Affinity on my computer, a message is saying I need to be running an OS that is 10.15 or later. I can not upload to Catalina 10.15 - Apple articles are saying this older computer of mine can not support the newer operating system. I just purchased Affinity software for my older iMac (Mid 2010, with High Sierra, Version 10.13.6). ![]()
